Professor Mark Hargreaves was appointed Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Partnerships) at the University of Melbourne in September 2011. His range of academic experience positions him well for this leadership role which has responsibility for the important relationships between the University and its research partners, including the medical research institutes.

Mark is a distinguished physiologist, with teaching and research interests in exercise physiology and metabolism. His studies have examined the effects of acute and chronic exercise on skeletal muscle carbohydrate metabolism. Mark had a major leadership role in the curriculum developments as part of the Melbourne Model implementation.

Mark assumed the role of Chairman of BVA on 1 January 2014.
